BROONLYN, Ohio - A busy few months culminated Monday for Therany Dunnigan when the 6-2 post player gave her oral commitment to North Carolina State's women's basketball team.
Dunnigan's decision comes on the heals of her choice of high schools. She was a standout at Regina but the when all-girls parochial school in South Euclid closed in June, the Brookpark resident chose to finish her high school career at her home school, Midpark.
"I'm excited," said Dunnigan, who averaged 7.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and one block a game as a junior. "I know what high school I'm going to and now I know what college I'm going to.
"I'm glad [the decisions] are over and now I can just concentrate on enjoying my senior year."
Dunnigan, 17, visited about 12 colleges and narrowed the field to NC State, Virginia Tech and Indiana.
"I made a list of pros and cons for each school," said Dunnigan, who is leaning toward a human biology major. "I've been primarily a center in high school but have been playing a lot of [power forward] in the off-season and it's been a pretty smooth transition.
"The coaches at North Carolina State told me I'll have a chance to play as a freshman as long as I work hard. I just don't know if it's going to be at [center or power forward]."
